Today, we’re releasing update 1.07 for Sharefactory, which includes several highly requested features based on your feedback.

One of the biggest features we’re proud to add is Time Bender, which enables players to add slow motion and time lapse effects to their Sharefactory videos. This has been the most popular feature request for Sharefactory — we can’t wait to see how you’ll use this in future videos.

We’re also adding Sharefactory Events, which will be held by your favorite game developers and publishers. They’ll lay out specific video creation requirements and you get to show off your editing skills. And just a heads up, the first event is being planned now and we’ll have more details soon.

Also, we’re expanding the number of clips you can to add your Sharefactory projects to 50, and the number of music track clips has been expanded to 12....

Hi, this is Jakub from Grip Games and I’m back on PlayStation.Blog to show you our newest upcoming game — McDroid, which is coming to PS4 in early 2016 and combines action and tower defense genres. It’s developed by the super-creative team at Elefantopia.

You’ll play as a cute little robot named — you guessed it — McDroid. He crash landed on an alien planet and has to defend against countless waves of enemies in order to slowly repair his ship and also heal the planet.

McDroid has two major distinctive features: one is its unique look, which is very colorful and stylized, and the other is mixing tower defense with action gameplay. Starting with the latter, you will be able to build various weapons, like lasers, rocket launchers or tesla cannons, and place them as stationary turrets or carry them on your back and use them as traditional weapons. This lets you have automatic weapons to protect one part of the...

It took a community to build Communities for PS4.

Clan support on a console sounds easy enough to do, but consider… it’s never been done before, and maybe for good reasons. It’s big. It’s messy. It impacts everything. It’s not easy. That’s why building Communities for PS4 appealed to Khoi Do, a senior engineer on the PlayStation Network team. “I actually switched teams because of this feature,” says Do. “There were a lot of question marks. I was a little worried, but that made it fun.”

Do leads the Gambit scrum development team at Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI), the division behind the PS4 user interface and PSN. Gambit’s team covers PS4 social features, so Communities was destined to fall squarely on them. But there was no way they could do it alone.

Communities, released in PS4 System Software 3.00, came out of a hackathon coding competition presentation by designer Dominic...

We’re excited to announce that Zotrix is available today on PS4! Zotrix is a twin-stick space shooter that combines the retro look and feel of 80’s and 90’s arcade games with modern gameplay elements, customization, and depth.

The game’s console debut adds an Arcade Mode, new missions, more boss encounters, as well as new ships and power-ups unavailable in the well-received original version that some may be familiar with from its PC launch.

Zotrix is a twin-stick space shooter at its core, but on top of that it’s also a surprisingly deep space trading game. The Story Mode gives you specific objectives, but lets you plot your own route through a network of space stations to achieve them. You’ll escort trade ships from one station to the next, protecting them from onslaughts of enemies in intricate...

I had three passions growing up: games, movies, and really bad movies. I’d come home from school, spend a few hours exploring Final Fantasy VI or slicing through Knights of the Round, head out with some friends to see The Rock or Independence Day, and then come home and nod off to a Mystery Science Theater riffing of The Creeping Terror or The Beginning of the End (with a little homework squeezed in somewhere, sometimes, maybe).

Primitive and cheesy as they usually were, those old movies had a certain… gumption to them, a sort of earnest overconfidence you couldn’t help but smile at.

The 16-bit console wars were in full swing back then, and while I loved all the advances games had made since the old-old days, I imagined what games might look like ten or twenty years down the road. As fun as it could be to hurl buildings in King of the Monsters, I wanted a game that could show you how huge the monsters really were. As much as I loved blasting my way through...
