This week, PlayStation games span millennia. Massive open-world adventures, time-hopping puzzlers, and stealthy assassinations gather together to form a staggering lineup on PS4.
Far Cry Primal leads the pack with the next chapter in Ubisoft’s renowned, emergent open-world. Travel back to the Stone Age as the last surviving member of an ill-fated hunting group. Craft weapons to fight against the unrelenting wilds around you, tame beasts to hunt by your side, and conquer the beautiful land of Oros.
Meanwhile, time-hopping puzzle platformer Replay: VHS is Not Dead launches this week on PS4, alongside the head-scratching stealth missions of Hitman Go: Definitive Edition. And if that wasn’t enough, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 brings its action-packed competitive arena to PS4.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Far Cry Primal, we reached out to Creative Director Jean-Christophe Guyot to learn more about Ubisoft’s latest project and how it differs from previous entries in the series (spoilers: it’s quite different).
Q: Describe Far Cry Primal in one sentence.
A: In the prehistoric world of Oros, you will learn to hunt and tame the mega fauna as you climb the savage food chain in order to become the apex predator.
Smite is coming to PS4! The game officially enters Closed Alpha testing on PS4 today, and will begin Closed Beta in early March. Players can opt in now for a chance to receive a free Closed Beta invite in the near future.

Picture the game of soccer (or football if you’re outside the U.S.), only replace the players with cars. And replace the pitch with an enclosed arena with walls several stories tall… that the cars can basically stick to. Now make the ball about three times the size of a car, and add in explosions whenever a goal is scored. Also: The cars can basically fly. That’s Rocket League, and it hit Xbox One this week. To get you properly excited to play, let’s take a look at some ridiculous videos (taken from the PC version of the game) that highlight... See the rest of the story on Xbox Wire
For the first time in the beloved Fire Emblem series, you can play through different adventures with unique storylines and characters in the Fire Emblem Fates games for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
Paragon is a gorgeous, third-person action game with rich layers of strategy. It’s also a MOBA. Did I lose you already? Do you get anxious around that word? Don’t. In fact, forget I said it.
Let’s look at the basics, instead: Paragon is a competitive game with two teams of five. Each team tries to push into the opposing team’s base in order to destroy its core — which is protected by automated defenses. That’s it. If you can wrap your mind around that, you can wrap your mind around Paragon. Everything after that is just a few (hundred) practice matches away.
A MOBA By Any Other Name
Paragon, like the great MOBAs before it, is built on several pillars. Understanding these pillars will go a long way in better understanding the genre — and how to play!
The Heroes: Paragon has a stylish, diverse roster of heroes....
SwapQuest is a mix of a retro RPG with a tile-swapping puzzle game, inspired by classics like Pipe Mania. The idea behind it was to take many of the elements I loved as a child in console RPGs from the 90’s and blend them with a movement system more reminiscent of a puzzle game.
Out came SwapQuest on PS Vita, an easy-to-learn yet hard-to-master gaming experience that combines the development of your own character with puzzle levels that feel fresh every time due to their procedural nature. The game started small, but the concept took on a life of its own as more and more RPG elements found their way into the game.
The plan was to have SwapQuest ready after six months of development, but as the concept expanded the scope of the game became bigger — in the end it took more than two years to finish. In the beginning there were only the levels with treasure chests, enemies, and NPCs that would...
On the eve of our penultimate Blogcast recording before episode 200 (I think I did that right), the gang laments the temporary absence of a certain Powerhouse, talks about our earliest and dearest fighting game members memories, reveals next week’s new releases, and keeps on Necrodancin’ and… Tharsin’? Tharsisin’?
We hope you weren’t doing anything important with all those hours in your day, because Psyonix’s “soccer-meets-driving” multiplayer extravaganza Rocket League has made its Xbox One debut today and it is glorious. Ever wanted to play soccer, as a car, that’s wearing a hat, and driving up walls, and flipping all over the place with crazy rocket boosts? How about doing all that in a Halo– or Gears of War– or Sunset Overdrive-themed car? Well, we’re happy to say that your wish has been granted. The long-awaited Xbox One version of Rocket League – already a big hit on Windows... See the rest of the story on Xbox Wire
